Oh what a day!
August 2nd 2022, will live in my memory forever. It is the day I filled the room with family and many connections I have had the pleasure to work with over my last 12 years in business and why were we there? Well, we there to celebrate just that, my twelve-year business anniversary.
I love celebrating milestones, and this was a big one, I had anticipated celebrating ten years however we all know what happened in 2020 to put a stop to that! Instead that year I held an on-line Christmas party, I bought along a magician and we laughed our way through an afternoon.
August 2022 was no different. The room was full of fun, laughter and beautiful energy and I count myself lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful business connections who over the years have become friends. I believe this is what being in business is all about, surround your self with the right people who are positive and equally supportive of your journey to success, this way you won’t go far wrong.
This is a lesson I learnt early on in my Awaken days, if you build relationships with other business owners, take time to help them and care about their journey too then they will care about yours showing their support when you need it and I can guarantee you celebrating with you when you hit momentous milestones.
In 2010 when I established my business, I made a pledge to myself that I would indeed retire from it, no more working directly for an employer, I wanted the freedom of entrepreneurship. I guess back then celebrating a twelve-year anniversary was a pipe dream, however dreams do come true as I discover regularly. However, to make dreams into reality you need to grab every opportunity life presents you.
I did just this many years ago when I met Apprentice Winner Mark Wright at an expo in Bristol. I stopped to chat to him and that chat has developed into him becoming not just a mentor but a friend as well. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Mark as my guest speaker at my anniversary lunch where he shared his journey and business tips, the audience loved it and it was a joy for me to give something back to them in gratitude for the support they have shown me.
So, how do you use opportunities to turn dreams into reality and more importantly how do you celebrate when that reality has arrived? If you don’t do either of these then take time to build them into your business life for the rewards, trust me will live with you forever too!
